Robert Johnson is a time proven “born again changed man” who knows from first hand experience what it means to be incarcerated and separated from the family that is near and dear to his heart who serves as the Prison Ministry Director. Robert has a powerful testimony of how God delivered him from substance abuse and a life of crime while being incarcerated. Robert’s passion stems from how Christ forgave his sins and restored value to his life. As a shepherd to the incarcerated, he wants others to have the same redeeming experience. Robert’s role as the Prison Ministry director is defined in three stages.

Stage 1      Being a shepherd to the inmates by:

• Providing basic supplies that are permissible.

• Providing bibles and other discipleship material.

• Providing teaching, prayer, worship and communion.

Stage 2      Keeping the inmates connected with their families by:

• Encouraging correspondence through letters to keep families united.

• Assisting with supervised visitations.

• Provided transportation when needed.

Stage 3      Helping transition from incarceration to reunification with the

                  community.

• Uniting released inmates as welcomed members of VJCOG

• Helping locate job opportunities, available resources and further educational opportunities.

• Establish a network of mentors to come along side who will be able to provide guidance,

          encouragement, a willing ear as well as accountability when needed.

• Helping provide basic living supplies through the “free store.”
